Environmental protection and the responsible use of resources are part of Wesemann’s corporate philosophy.
Environmental management at Wesemann unites the international ISO 14001 and the European EMAS III under one roof.
The integration of ideas on environmental protection is being consistently continued in the company, so that, in 2014, we decided to introduce an environmental management system according to the European standard EMAS (short for Eco-Management and Audit Scheme).
EMAS is considered the world’s highest standard that can be implemented in the field of environmental management systems. With this conscious decision, we want to underline our claim to be a pioneer in environmental protection and sustainability in our industry.
In June 2015, we were able to successfully complete the introduction of the EMAS. With the EMAS certificate, our commitment is now officially confirmed and Wesemann joins the circle of EMAS companies.
First and foremost, an environmental management system helps us improve our environmental performance by giving it a systematic framework. It not only complements our ISO 9001 quality management system, which has been in existence since 1996, and our ISO 45001 occupational safety management system, but also expands our existing corporate policy into a holistic corporate policy.
Within the framework of EMAS, the ecological targeting was divided into four different fields of action:
- Material usage and resource conservation
- Waste and recycling
- Energy and emissions
- Ecological process optimization
For all fields of action, goals and measures have been defined within the framework of the environmental programme, the first of which have already been successfully implemented.
By systematically recording our key figures on for example materials, waste and energy, we can better identify possible (environmental) potentials and use them positively for ourselves and our customers. Dialogue with our various stakeholder groups also provides us with valuable information on how we, as a company, can successively develop further.
