The Leibniz-Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology, Hans-Knöll-Institut (HKI), researches natural substances from microorganisms, as well as the infection biology of human pathogenic fungi.

Around 450 people work in the building under state-of-the-art conditions, with a high-performance infrastructure that enables continuing top research performance in the newly established laboratories.

Newly discovered natural substances are studied there by the HKI in terms of their biological activity, and modified to enable their specific use as an active ingredient in prospective applications.

The colour concept of the laboratory furnishings at the Jena site is also in keeping with nature, as it was inspired by the natural colours typical of the area.

This means that a separate colour has been developed for each floor, which is echoed in the laboratory workplaces.

The full colourful spectrum of the project can be found in our reference area.
