A new research building for the Centre for Synthetic Microbiology (Synmikro) has been completed.
The building accommodates eight Synmikro departments and two independent research groups. State-of-the-art laboratories with a total area of 6,250 square metres on four floors are available to the scientists.
In the working groups of the centre, synthetic and analytical research approaches are used to investigate basic properties of cellular processes and to develop methods of providing cells and cell components with new functions. The aim is to create functional and flexible biological modules that can form the basis for new, industrially applicable technologies.
